The Big Deal
Decomposition Tree visual is now in preview! This powerful visual was a big request by the Power BI user community, so for some, Christmas came early. The visual allows you to run a root-cause analysis by seeing how the parts contribute to the whole. It breaks down a given metric, so that you can see the impact of each attribute. New Data Connectors
Power BI can connect to almost any data source. While most needs are covered by the basic database and file connectors, Power BI offers an array of specialized connectors that help you connect to specific systems or web sources. This month, there was a bumper crop, with four new connectors:
- LinkedIn Sales Navigator (with a matching Template app).
- Vena
- SiteImprove
- Products Insight
Data Prep
Power BI isn’t just a visualization tool. It has some powerful data tools that can be used to help smaller companies get started on their BI journey with system of record reporting. The latest enhancement for Power BI Premium users is the addition of AI functions to Power Query. Previously, these functions were only available in the service, but now they are accessible in Power BI desktop and can be applied to any data set. But what does it do, you ask? Sentiment analysis, image tagging and more.
